* You can use several motion sensors to detect wandering motion, which is a symptom of some medical conditions that might be a concern.
* In general, motion sensors in your loved one's usual places, perhaps the bedroom, kitchen and living room, let you see from day to day whether your loved one is moving around in a typical way.

Another interesting way to view daily activity is through the Daily Show. You can merge the data from multiple activity sensors, and then see a display of the day's activity. To select the sensors to include in the show:

Open a motion graph, and change the selection to "Daily Show." You will see a time lapse of the activity data for the day. Press the "Refresh" button if you would like to run it again.<br /><br />


It is possible to do a more realistic Daily Show, by uploading a diagram of your loved one's floor plan.  
There are two parts to each rule, a condition and an action. On the first screen, define the condition. Your rule can be triggered by:
* On the Activity window, click the "Options" button
* Any motion
* Next to Daily Show Graphic, click the "Add" button
* No motion
* Select the graphic file to upload - the graphic must be a jpg, bmp, or gif file, landscape-oriented, with a 7x4 aspect ratio.
* Wandering motion
* Click the "OK" button to save
* Excessive motion
* Next to Daily Show Sensors, click the "Edit" button

* Specify the location of the top left corner as an X and Y coordinate, on the diagram, for the room in which each sensor is located, assuming the top, left corner of the diagram is (0,0)

Open a motion graph, and change the selection to "Daily Show." You will see a time lapse of the activity data for the day, but it will more closely represent actual motion through your loved one's home. Press the "Refresh" button if you would like to run it again.<br /><br />

You can choose a time period during which the rule would execute, for example for a time period at night, for a time period around lunchtime, etc. You can also specify how frequently to check the condition, or in some cases how long the condition must continue before an alert is triggered.<br /><br />

* If no motion is detected in the kitchen between 11am and 1pm - this might signal that your loved one has not eaten lunch.<br /><br />
 
Once you have defined the condition, you need to set the action. Possible actions include turning on a light, showing an on-screen [[Acknowledgments|Acknowledgment]] to the resident, or contacting a single caregiver, all caregivers, or a [[Call Lists|Call List]]. The types of contact include:
* Email

* Phone call to home, work or cell phone

Multiple rules can be triggered for any event, so that multiple types of alerts can be sent out, for example both phone calls and emails.<br /><br />
 
A checkbox next to the rule lets you set whether the rule is enabled or disabled. It might make sense to turn off a rule while your loved one is on vacation, so that alerts won't be sent out during that time. You can disable a rule by unchecking the box. When you're ready for the rule to be active again, just check the Enabled checkbox again, and then save the rule settings.<br /><br />
